That raises my suspicion that it is the HDMI port that is defective. It’s not a cable problem. Any other ideas guys? I have this configuration at the moment: I removed the monitor and restarted the computer only with the HDMI plugged in.

The video card’s control panel says that the sound is working but it isn’t. Windows 7 Ultimate bit Monitor: This thread is locked. Actually DVI-I does support audio. Only the PC surround system works.

If that doesn’t work, then your card could be in need of replacement. On the second monitor I just receive an error message.

Post as a guest Name. I don’t know why I didn’t realize DVI doesn’t carry audio sooner. From jason’s last link when i was doing the same type of connection i did this and it supplied good sound. Any ideas on how to fix this? Then it worked fine.
