Heidi goes to The Joint
Heidi Dolamore and I had a long and interesting chat on the phone last night, when she told me about all sorts of interesting stuff she was working on lately, one of which was a book group meeting she facilitated at a juvenile detention center for girls. I kinda bullied her into writing about it on her blog, Quiddle, because it was awesome and interesting. So, the least I can do is pimp it here.
This, to me, is an excellent example of true Library 2.0 programming. Library 2.0 is not just tech or social software, it’s many types of user-centered programming. I think one of the most valuable types of Library 2.0 programming are the ones that take the library to the community, whether that means a book group at a jail or a reference librarian holding office hours in the local coffee shop.
Kudos to Heidi for the excellent work, and for writing about it for us!
