Reading librarian spotted at Sox game on TV

Jamie Penney, our head of Technical Services at Reading Public Library, is a huge Red Sox fan. Indeed, there are many huge Red Sox fans at my library. But Jamie is, by far, the most famous Red Sox fan at my library, after being spotted last night at the game holding a huge banner with a message to the players that was subtitled “Reading Public Library.” Calls came in from patrons all over town (it’s a big Sox fan town, too), and even messages from Sox fans over at Town Hall.

Reports say that the game commentators spoke briefly about the sign, and about libraries and reading, which is pretty awesome. We have a videotape of the sighting, which I have yet to see… perhaps there’s some way that we can digitize it ourselves to post it to YouTube without too much crazy technology… or maybe they’ll just send us a copy of the snippet?

We take our advertising any way we can get it. ;)
