PodCamp Boston 2 is open for registration!
OK, so they’ve been open for registration for a while. But hey, the conference isn’t until October 26 - 28, so there’s plenty of time to register.
So, what is PodCamp, and why should librarians care? PodCamp is a gathering of all things podcasting. PodCamp Boston 2 “promises to bring the best of the podcasting/blogging/new media community together to learn, share, experience, and grow. How do we know it’ll be the best? Because *YOU* will be there.”
The first year of this barcamp-style un-conference was held at Bunker Hill Community College. This year, PodCamp will be taking over the Boston Convention and Expo Center, with VON Boston 2007 as a sponsor for the venue, so it’s come a long way.
As for the why librarians should care part, podcasting is an everyday format on the web these days, as is VoIP (Voice over IP). I can attest from my personal experience with this gang from last year’s conference that this gathering is a huge opportunity to ask questions, get advice, learn so very, very much, and possibly even get your own 5 minutes of web fame by being interviewed. What is there to lose, it’s *free*.
I think I was one of 3 librarians at PodCamp last year. I want to change that this year. PodCamp is FREE to attend (you can make a donation if you want, but you totally don’t need to), so if you can even attend one day of the unconference, I encourage you to register. Let me know if you’ll be there!
