*Eek* the Big Scary
For the first time in about 3 months, I looked at my Bloglines account today.
Big. Scary.
Once again, it’s all about the “clean the slate and start from scratch” tactic.
Before I began working in April, I checked my news feeds about 4 times every day, and blogged significantly more. Now that I’m working, it’s definitely different. I’ve noticed that I will visit blogs directly to get the content I really, really want, and generally fear my Bloglines account most righteously, avoiding it altogether. My first few months at work, I was working some pretty irregular hours, which accounts in part for my disappearance from the blogosphere (or, at least, my semi-hermitage). But that’s not the entire reason.
It’s time to do another feed weed, and figure out a better schedule of checking my feeds. I’ll also be selecting my feeds more judiciously, only keeping prolific feeds if they are really worth keeping.
I’ve always been averse to memes and blog incest, making every effort to publish original content instead of recycling too much, unless I have something new or interesting to add to the mix. But as my readership has grown, I think that I did become a bit wrapped up in my feeds, in the idea of “keeping up” with other blogs and bloggers. Weeding and a reading schedule will help prevent this from happening, so that I can love my feeds again.
::mantra:: Bloglines is my friend.
