Going to ALA? I have a dare for you.

Maybe your not a hard-core blogger. Or maybe you consider yourself one of the “blog people”. Perhaps you’re looking for a new way to document your conference experience, and show your boss that you’re a librarian rock star with excellent conference reporting kung fu. Or maybe you’re just looking for a way in, a way to start blogging *and* networking.

Whatever your blogosphere status, consider the call to participate in the PLA Blog at ALA in Chicago, if you’re going to be there.

What are we (the blog co-managers) expecting of conference bloggers?

- Coverage of PLA events

- Coverage of sessions that might be of interest to public librarians

- Thoughts on conference dynamics, the social scene, conference “flava”

and whatever seems interesting.

Now, I won’t lie to you. Conference blogging can be exhausting. But it’s the good kind of exhausting. And it allows you to really process what you’re learning, as well as share it with the world. Besides, you’ll have other seasoned conference bloggers to help you out. Take this opportunity to try to really develop your communication skills, and dispell the stereotype that librarians are risk-averse by taking chance on a new experience.

We’d *love* to have public librarians blog, but we’re not limiting participation to public librarians. So if you have an interest in public library stuff, definitely consider joining the crew.

Need to talk your decision through? Email me.

Are you already sold? Contact the PLA Blog directly to sign up with your name, your library, your email address, and anything else you want to tell us about yourself (including your blog URL, if you have one).

I *dare* ya. ;)

What you should know about me
An avid social networker, I've always been a technologist and information science, with a penchant for problem solving and bent for the creative. I was a librarian for a little while, too.
