Zen mindfulness @ your library
It’s really very cool when my professional and philosophical worlds collide.
One of the ways I keep myself sane in my way busy life is through yoga and various forms of meditation, including mindfulness meditation. Through mindfulness, I find a certain cleansing of the brain, as it were, kinda like a refresh button for my thinking, which clears all the clutter to allow me to focus on individual tasks more easily, and also to make my multitasking more efficient.
This month’s LISCareers articles included this gem on how mindfulness can help a librarian serve patrons better:

If you’re new to meditation, Beliefnet has an excellent introduction to different forms of meditation, so you can pick which kind (and/or faith) works for you. The mindfulness meditation listed is “A Moment of Calm” by Tara Brach, which is a short, non-denominational guided meditation combined with a Flash animation of soothing images, which is a great starter for people who might need the visual compliment to help them focus on the guided bit.
Meditation is also great for coping with Attention Deficit Trait.
