Online librarian hangouts nominated for Bloggies

Bloggies are what they sound like, they’re the people’s choice awards for blogs. I went to check out the nominees and vote, and saw a few librarian hangouts nominated, so I thought I’d share:

Bookslut

Best Topical Weblog

MetaFilter
http://www.metafilter.com
Best Community Weblog

Slashdot
http://www.slashdot.org
Best Community Weblog
Best Computer or Technology Weblog

I know I hang out here, I’m sure other librarians must:

Boing Boing
http://www.boingboing.net
Best Group Weblog
Weblog of the Year

The Bloggies are a handy way to see what was popular this year on blogs (see the “Best Meme” and “Best Application for Weblogs” awards), which foreign bloggers were well-visited (there are awards for Australia/New Zealand, Asia, Africa/Middle East, european, British/Irish, Latin America, Canada, and America), and who made a special mark on the blog scene (see the “Best-Kept-Secret Weblog” and “Best New Weblog” awards). So yeah, if you’ve got some time to spare, go have a look at what blogs people are reading.
